THE government has secured US$1 million under the Global Fund to go towards the oxygen requirements for COVID-19 patients in the country.
This is to curtail the constrained reported oxygen supply which has affected patients who are in critical condition across the country.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Kennedy Malama confirmed the development.
The government has assured that it’s doing everything possible to bring the pandemic under control through media and community engagement.
Community engagements and risk communication are the most important weapons that will help achieve behaviour change in densely populated areas.
“We held a very successful media engagement meeting on Tuesday and I am pleased to note that the fourth estate has pledged to use all available platforms including TV, radio, PA systems and megaphones as well as social media to highlight the gravity of the situation,’’ Mr Malama explained.
He however expressed worry with the continued escalating Covid-19 cases.
