The University of Zambia (UNZA) has announced that it intends to reduce the number of staffing from 2,200 to 1,300 to cut down on costs.
UNZA Vice Chancellor Professor Luke Mumba said the university will see a 40 percent reduction in staffing over a period of 4 to 5 years.
Professor Mumba said this at the first ever state of the University address at UNZA main campus.
He disclosured that the University’s debt now stands at 4.4 billion Kwacha.
Meanwhile, Mumba also disclosed that the University Management will not allow any student to write exams without paying fees.
He explained that students can however follow the structured installment payment plan of 25 percent for four quarters in a year.
