SMART ZAMBIA TO CAPTURE 200 E-SERVICES ON GOVT. BUS

SMART Zambia has targeted to capture about 200 services operational on the Government Bus before the end of this year.

National Coordinator Percive Chinyama said this when he met Muchinga Province Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule to discuss ICT development in the Province.

Mr Chinyama said some of these service buses include the Zambia Revenue Authority e-services and Procurement of Firearms on the GSB, among others.

He further stated that Smart Zambia has successfully connected the new General Hospital in Muchinga Province to the government wide-area e-network.

“All government services that are electronic will be on one platform and that platform will be available even for the people of Muchinga,” he said.

He said the objective is to ensure that hospitals are connected to the internet in order to utilize electronic services adding that the electronic services in health facilities will enable health practitioners to easily access patients’ records at any health facility.

And Mr Mukungule said the commitment by the government to expedite the process of going electronic with services is highly commendable.

He said the presence of Smart Zambia in the province will ensure effectiveness in conducting government work using the e-system.

Mr Mukungule further said the e-services will be of great use to the General Hospital as well as the provincial administration.

“I am grateful that we are not left out in such e-services that make our work easier,” he said.

Meanwhile, acting Medical Superintendent for Chinsali General Hospital, Dirk Willis said the connectivity of the Hospital to a wide area network will go a long way in improving service delivery to clients.

Dr Willis said the move by the government is a welcome step to the health staff at the new Hospital.
