MUWOWO TO BE SACRIFICED AT PIRATES

DETAILS have emerged from the South African Premier League that Orlando Pirates’s Zambian winger Austin Muwowo could be on his way out of the Buccaneers.

The development follows the arrive of Deon Hotto and Terrence Dzvukamanja from Bidvest Wits, among the new arrivals at the club that could see at least one star from its foreign players axed from the team.

Last season, Goal reports that Pirates had four foreigners in their squad in French goalkeeper Joris Delle and the Zambian trio of Justin Shonga, Augustine Mulenga and Austin Muwowo, while Gabadinho Mhango was registered as a local after he acquired his South Africa citizenship.

According to sources, Muwowo is likely to be sacrificed as the club will be assembling the squad for the new season, with Hotto and Dzvukamanja set to fill up the club’s foreign quota.

Muwowo struggled for game-time under Josef Zinnbauer this past season, having made only two substitute appearances during the 2019/20 campaign.

According to sources, the 23-year-old is likely to be loaned as he still has two years on his contract with the club.

Muwowo joined Pirates in July last year on a three-year deal from Zambian champions Nkana FC
