MTN Zambia says it has hit 4.5 million subscribers on its mobile money base.
MTN Zambia Fintech Managing Director,Komba Malukutila diclosed that at the beginning of 2020 MTN Zambia MOMO only had about 3 million subscribers hence the level of growth now attained is certainly a significant one.

Meanwhile, Mr Malukutilapinted out that the COVID pandemic has pushed the need for us to digitalize many of our services and products so as to encourage social distancing and considering that many businesses have turned to mobile money and cashless options to make transactions.
He said that MTN has continued to work on many partnerships with technology incubators like Bongo Hive for ease of payment and to allow developers align with the hub thereby integrating their products on MTN MOMO API.
Mr Malukutila added that the Zambian Government stressed the need to accomplish the universal access and usage of diverse quality and affordable financial services, to make this work government has formulated a 5-year plan to accelerate financial inclusion journey in the country by setting a range of activities for stakeholders.
