THE Ministry of Mines and Minerals is considering temporarily closing all mining dumpsites across the country in a quest to bring sanity to the sector.
Minister of Mines and Minerals, Paul Kabuswe has since called on small mining companies operating from the black mountain to work with the government as they endeavour to make mines benefit all Zambians.
“For now can we wait until we bring sanity and clarity on how these areas are going to operate,” he explained.
He added that the period in which the dumpsites remain closed will not belong adding that not so many small scale miners will be affected because the dumpsites are currently rarely used.
He urged small scale miners to desist from being selfish and ensure that the resources are used to the benefit of many.
