BUILD TRUST IN DIGITAL FINANCIAL SERVICES, CITIZENS GUIDED

THE Bank of Zambia (BoZ) has reaffirmed its commitment to counter the spread of COVID-19 by encouraging Zambians to continue adopting safe practices such as making use of digital financial services.

The Central Bank says people must at all times endeavor to use digital payment channels such as, cellphone banking, banking apps, online banking, and swiping their bank card.

“Protect yourself from COVID-19 with digital financial services. Practice social distancing, maintain a minimum distance of one meter with the nearest person when using an automated teller machine (ATM), Point of Sale (PoS) machine or visiting a bank” BoZ stated,

The Bank adds that people should priorities washing of hands with soap or sanitise before and after using an automated teller machine (ATM) or PoS.

“You (citizens) can help stop the spread of COVID-19 by observing public health guidelines and adopting safe practices such as making use of digital financial services.

Going digital can help you manage your money. You can make use of digital financial services to effectively track your expenses, make payments, send or receive money from anywhere,” indicates the Reserve Bank.

The country’s Monetary Authority has further advised that people can digitise their finances by signing up for mobile money, downloading a mobile banking app, registering for the internet, and use a point of sale machine.
