THE Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) says the process of engaging the fourth mobile service provider is at evaluation and due diligent stage.
Meaning that ZICTA is still investigating or auditing, or reviewing performance to confirm the facts of a matter under consideration.
In June 2020, the Ministry of Transport and Communications called on players in the telecommunication sector with the capacity to participate in setting up a fourth mobile service provider to take part in a bid to obtain a license.
This development followed failure by Uzi Mobile Zambia Limited to start operating as a fourth mobile service provider after being awarded a license by ZICTA.
UP until now the Zambian citizenry have been waiting for a fourth mobile phone voice service provider.
ZICTA Corporate Communications Manager Ngabo Nankonde to the Techwatch News, “We are still at the evaluation and due diligent stage. Until that process is done I cannot say anything. We will soon issue a statement regarding the fourth mobile service provider”.
Ms Nankonde said, “All I can tell you is that a Committee has since been set up to carry out the evaluation and diligence process”.
